Our End of Year team is ready for you

Every year we open our End of Year (EoY) screens in October, and every year most schools do their EoY tasks in the last few days before screens close on 23 November. It makes for a 'rough week' for our staff. With just a couple of weeks left before End of Year closes, we have established our EoY team and they'd really appreciate it if you could do your End of Year tasks this week to help spread the load.

Team leader, Siobhan (centre front) says she's changed the instructions and guides for End of Year quite a lot this year to make things easier to follow.

"We knew the information was complicated, so we've written a simple step-by-step guide, and really it's only four questions that will make sure all employees get paid correctly over the holidays.
"It's really important that schools get their term end date correct because once they've hit the 'EoY Complete' button they can't make any more changes to their Term 4 end date. Also, your employees' end dates will be automatically updated once you click 'EoY Complete' so there's no need to submit an instruction to change them back to 2020 end dates."

Every year Siobhan tries hard to make EoY better for schools too.

"I wrote a big lessons learnt document after the last EoY and SoY (Start of Year), so I'm really hoping the changes we've made will make things better for schools."

Extended phone support hours for EoY

We're increasing our phone support hours during the last week of End of Year so you can get the help you need from your payroll adviser (but please don't wait to start your tasks).

From Monday November 16 to Friday November 20, you'll be able to reach your payroll adviser from 9am to 4pm, and on Monday November 23 (the last day of EoY), you can call from 8:30am to 5pm.

New EdPay features pass the test

Our Beta test schools have given the go-ahead so we'll be turning on some new features in EdPay for everyone this week.

Our on-boarding and allowances features will cut the time it takes to do new hires and will make allocating allowances much easier. We'll email you when the new features are available with more details and a step-by-step guide.

Once you've had a look, we'd love to hear what you think so please let your dedicated payroll advisor know.

Employee accident or injury covered by ACC

If your employee has had an accident or injury covered by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) scheme, you need to:

  • Tell them to contact ACC and request weekly compensation (see the ACC website.)
  • If the work-related injury is for less than a week (not exceeding five continuous days for a non-teacher and seven continuous days for a teacher), submit a NOVO12acc leave booking form (PDF) advising ACWK1 - WorkRelated W1 for the Leave Code. The first week of injury is considered a stand down period to ACC, therefore this cost is covered by the school.
  • Send any forms labelled ACC3, ACC72 or ACC38's you receive from ACC to as soon as possible. These ACC forms will be completed by us.

New TAPEC question in EdPay New Hire

You'll soon notice a new question on the contracts page for new employees in EdPay. If the employee will be joining your support staff, you'll be asked if they are a teacher aide who started on or after, 12 February 2020. Completing this will ensure they receive the correct grade and step, in line with the recent Teacher Aide Pay Equity Claim (TAPEC) changes.
