Leave programme

As part of an ongoing commitment to improve services to schools, the Ministry of Education, Education Payroll Limited, and the New Zealand School Trustees Association have worked together to make a number of changes to employee leave management this year. This includes system improvements, new reporting and guidelines, and training in leave management.

Leave Balance Confirmation process

The Leave Balance Confirmation process is in its final stages. The Service Centre is working with schools that have raised queries, and is processing CSVs received. This will continue through until the end of October.  The Leave Balance Confirmation instructions (PDF,1.33MB) continue to be available, and some Tips and tricks (PDF, 484KB), if you need to refer to them to complete your confirmation process.

The confirmation reports were removed from Novopay Online on 21 September. The leave balance information contained in those reports was as at 4 August, and is now not current enough to use reliably. If you wish to make leave bookings (current or historical), or query a balance, please follow normal processes as described in the Leave management section. This section provides instructions on how to book or reverse leave, and how to manage leave balances.

Fortnightly report

The new School Annual and Sick Leave report will be available on Novopay Online from 30 September 2015. This report is produced fortnightly. Guidelines for using the report including an explanation for each section of the report can be found in the reports section of the Novopay website (School Annual and Sick Leave report) or can be linked to from the Leave management guidelines - managing leave balances section.

Training

A self-paced learning module in leave management remains available. This module aims to give principals and authorised users an improved understanding of leave management and associated payroll activities.
