Well done for completing End of Year

Isn't it good to have that out of the way? End of Year closed at 5pm on Monday with only a small number of schools yet to complete. These schools will be offered additional support for future End of Year and Start of Year processing.

Start of Year opens soon

Our Start of Year (SoY) screens for 2021 open on Wednesday, 9 December 2020, but all information is available now. This year we've created a new tool so it's easy to know whether to make your changes in EdPay, Novopay Online or NOVO forms. The new 'Start of Year actions tool' is on our website in the big orange 'Start of Year' box. It has drop-down options for every SoY task, and we hope it will help.

We've also written a 'Step-by-step process' for SoY, or you can print and follow our Start of Year 2021 guide. If you are new to SoY, or haven't done one lately, there is a self-paced Learning Module to help you.

Automatic increments for teacher aides

From 1 January, 2021 teacher aides will begin to automatically progress to the next Work Matrix step on the anniversary of their job start date.

This progression will occur automatically unless the school advises that the teacher aide should not be progressed. If your school considers that a teacher aide has failed to meet standards of performance (or if they are currently grade B-C step 5, but their duties do not include those of grade C), please submit a NOVO31 to defer their progression. The Teacher Aide Pay Equity Claim requires that if you are deferring, you inform the teacher aide no later than two months before their progression date.

From next week we will be emailing schools who have a teacher aide due to automatically progress in the first quarter of 2021 (January to 31 March). To defer a progression, please submit a NOVO31 with the subject line: Defer.

We will automatically progress all eligible teacher aides unless you instruct otherwise.

No DIRT allowance for teacher aides

The new Tiaki allowance required by the Teacher Aide Pay Equity Claim means that you will not be able to use the old DIRT allowance for your teacher aides from tomorrow (Friday, November 27).

If your teacher aide requires a timesheet for Tiaki duties, do not use DIRT as they will not receive any additional payment. Instead use the Tiaki pay code, which can be done in Novopay Online.

Annualisation form NOVO23nt ready now

Make sure all of your school authorised users (school administrators and School Business Managers) who are annualised, have their new annualisation form for 2021 submitted before the end of the Term 4. The 2021 NOVO23nt is available now on the Novopay website under Forms. You need to complete this form for yourself (and have it approved by your Principal) soon, as without it you may lose access to Novopay Online at the end of January.
