Annual leave for term-time only non-teachers

Term-time only non-teaching employees are paid their annual leave entitlement at the end of the school year, usually in pay period 19. Annual leave taken during the school year, provided it is loaded into Novopay, is deducted from their annual leave balance before this payment is calculated. These employees cannot carry annual leave entitlements into the next year.

Accumulation of entitlements

Employees accumulate annual leave entitlements as specified in their employment agreement.

Term-time only non-teaching employees receive their annual leave entitlement at the end of each year.

The annual leave entitlement shows on the School Annual and Sick Leave report.

Annualised employees

If a term-time employee has their pay annualised, their annual leave will be included in their annualisation agreement. Therefore, if they take leave not included in the annualisation agreement during a school term, with the exception of sick leave, the annualisation agreement will need to be revisited.

Note: If the employee takes consecutive leave without pay of more than 10 working days during the year, their annualisation agreement ceases. See Annualisation.

Book annual leave

Annual leave for term-time only employees cannot be booked in Novopay Online. You must send a NOVO12 form to the Novopay Service Centre. See Book leave.
